The family
“A picture is not thought out and settled beforehand. While it is being done it changes as one’s thoughts change. And when it is finished, it still goes on changing, according to the state of mind of whoever is looking at it.”Pablo Picasso
1001 cubes containing the particles of the top spikes on Monad. This is Chog's fault.
When the chain came alive, she was born into a time of chaos and many spikes. But it was said that a messiah comet would change the space. The time is now.
Most spikes faded as fast as they came. The ones that stayed back found each other and came together, bonded into one. Then they split up, each taking a shape of its own: a cube.
1
The biggest spike of all became 1.
It became the only glass cube, holding every colour at once. It sits in the collection as #1.
The primes
The three cubes that carry those numbers are Legendary and are among the 1% that glow.
The tremors
At every 100,000 blocks, 1 sends a tremor through the family. No collector has a say in it yet. Shortly before each tremor, 1 listens to the chain and takes the hash of a block of spike. That hash becomes the tremor. If no one carries the block to 1 in time, it sends the tremor from memory.
Some cubes barely feel it. Others take a beating: tiles swap places, rows slide out of line, and holes burn open (black where a tile is hit once, red where it is hit twice or more). No two cubes feel the same tremor the same way. Some take one hit, some take many, and some are left untouched.
But nothing stays broken forever. Only the most recent tremors leave their marks, and every cube gets a full healing when it earns a credit, so every cube carries the chain's ongoing history on its faces.
The credits
Every cube keeps count of every hit it has ever taken. Each time it reaches 143, it earns a credit and heals: every red hole closes and every tile slides back to where it was born. Then the tremors start again.
There's no prize for it. There is only the art and the chance to watch it change as the chain does.
